Generals Zero Hour after a nuclear disaster

Command & Conquer: Aftermath Mod is a free-to-use mod developed by the C&C Generals 2 MOD Team. In this custom add-on for the strategy game Command & Conquer: Generals Zero Hour. It sets the game after a global nuclear war that has eradicated life on Earth. In this game, you get to play as one of three new factions fighting for control.

Its custom textures and character models make Command & Conquer: Aftermath Mod, feel like an official release from the original developers. While you’re at it, you can check out the ShockWave Mod or the Korean War 2 Mod.

A post-apocalyptic strategy experience

The premise for Command & Conquer: Aftermath Mod follows the fictional Third World War. Leaving the world a wasteland, the remaining survivors ended up with three unique organizations that emerged as the strongest military forces. You can play as the United Enforcement Corps, the Free Development League, and the Oil & Gas Energy Consortium. More than just the cultural and geographical boundaries, these are ideological differences at work.

With this concept, the developers managed to create entirely new factions in terms of design. Each of the three factions has new units and buildings. More importantly, they have technology trees that accurately reflect their concepts. However, it is important to note that the designs for the vehicles, for example, are closer to real-world ones instead of the futuristic vehicles in the base game.

However, while it does have a promising idea that can definitely cater to a lot of players, there remains a lot of work to be done. For example, the range of units and buildings for each faction is not yet completed, at least as far as the original game is concerned. It leaves the game largely imbalanced, as you can simply spam heavy infantry and armored units if you can.

A promising work in progress

While it’s still far from completion, the Command & Conquer: Aftermath Mod is already a great mod to add to your Zero Hour library. It is largely playable but more than that, it has already shown its impressive premise. The mod has a story that it manages to relay through the unique designs of its three new factions. This add-on is highly recommended.
